Excellent points made. Better Clearlake ownership than no club at all. However the Sporting Directors scatter gun approach continues to worry me, I can’t see the point in signing yet another winger in Jadon Sanchez even if did facilitate moving Sterling on, as the squad is too bloated & this end up with many dissatisfied players in the medium to long term. You raised an interesting topic on Chelsea Academy player development vs Man City’s premier ready academy players and you have wonder what Clearlake will do with Academy setup and end goals, now Neil Bath etc have gone.

A really great article and time will tell.

Interesting comments and I’ll take some time to digest them.

I particularly note your comments on players like Cucerella who despite the very very shaky start are starting to perform at much higher levels.. it seems that “Cinderella for one may yet come to the ball”.

I still think the jury is out on the hoarding of young players and extracting profit may not be so easy as they think, however there are certainly some positives.

Lavia for example if he can stay fit will imho become an integral part of the team his early performances being much better than I expected or had hoped for.

So as we move into the season and games it’s likely to be up and down but preferably more up.

My opinions on certain players have been reset back to base levels and a fresh start.

Absolutely brilliant.... All of us over a certain age remember those days well.

Once again, thank you Score a person with a vision to give an alternative view of the situation at the club. Willing to consider the wider situation and potential scenarios and most particularly willing to put your head above the parapet and share your thoughts even though you’re well aware that there is a large proportion of the fan base that will not agree with you. I have thanked you before for your articles and I thank you again for this one which I concur with. It’s not about me and others being optimistic, someone would say overly, but it’s belief in the bigger picture, the aims and the acceptance that patience is required and this may take a little while to fully be ready for implementation and bare fruit. The comparison between last years squad and that of the first year of Lampard/Terry et cetera is an interesting one and I concur with you that we’ve been downward trail since 2017.

You forgot to mention entertaining. This team is a constant drama, scoring, conceding etc. Thanks to Enzo, Jackson and at times Cucu it’s also becoming a team with attitude. A team with character cannot be far away. The owners made some beginner mistakes but the are a quick study and I think the anti American, anti money sections of the supporters are generally missing the point.

Neither but a glimpse into what we can be?
