The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 16th July 2026!
Morning all,
Well, it was the big one last night in the World Cup. England and Argentina fighting it out yet again, for a place in the World Cup final this time.
England bottled it. Or more accurately, Thomas Tuchel bottled it and threw away a 1-0 lead. I’ll have words out on this today, but I’m fuming in all honesty.
To the Chelsea content now. Round up all your latest general Chelsea news from the last 24 hours in the same place here. This covers all you need to know and any latest transfer news!
The exclusive sourced inside info came in thick and fast yesterday. You can grab some news on Chelsea making contact to sign a former England player here.
Then we have some very positive news on how Xabi Alonso has already been received by the Chelsea players here and some other details on what one or two of the key players are thinking. Some great stuff in this!
I also had a bit of sourced info on centre backs in this one here. This also covers the results of some polls and what Chelsea fans think of signing John Stones, and/or Antonio Silva this window.
And another veteran Mo Salah is rumoured to be open to a Chelsea return this window as well. I don’t see it myself, but a hypothetical bit of fun article with some polls here as well as the full story on this rumour!
See you all on the next Live Blog from around 8.45am on the home page today.
Peace, Si.

I wouldn't describe it as England and Tuchel "Bottling it" Si, if they hadn't bolstered the defence and still lost you and others would have said that was wrong.
A manager has to do what he see's in front of him i.e. a wave after wave of Argentina attacks.
What undid us was even with the extra defenders a gap in the middle of defense no one was covering which we got away with several times but tbh honest one of the defenders should have been in that gap filling it.
Tuchel wasn't expected to get us to the semi's as a first attempt it was excellent and better than Southgate who only got to the QF last time out.
Onwards to the European Championship and I say this:
Tuchel has been refreshing he turned England into a Unit and without the woke philosophy of Southgate, and frankly I've been impressed.
