The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Friday 22nd August 2025!
Morning all,
Welcome to the weekend and welcome to another Chelsea match day as we go into our second Premier League match tonight, facing West Ham United at the London Stadium at 8pm.
I’m pretty confident we can grab our first three points here, at least we very much should be. There’s no easy games, but we got to beat this poor looking Hammers team right now we truly do.
Before then, you can round up all of your latest Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the same place here. This covers all the transfer rumours and general Blues news.
The reason that Chelsea are unlikely to now sign a new goalkeeper or a new centre back this window has been explained a little more in here. There’s still a chance, but a slim one. Full details in the article.
Chelsea/Strasbourg randomly signed Julio Enciso from Brighton this week, or at least agreed the deal to. That came from nowhere and is a bit strange. Very good player for sure. I do have some concerns in the grand scheme of things that I’ve explained here.
Claude Makelele has been ‘teaching’ Moises Caicedo and what better player for him to learn from right? Find out what one of the best defensive midfielders to ever play the game said about it all here.
Renato Veiga is off to Villarreal and wont be missed by many at Chelsea. The Blues have done a good deal for him, and I explain why and why he had to go here.
Have a good weekend all, see you on Sunday if not on the Substack App before that!
Peace, Si.
