Nice article Luke

we need a striker but what sort of striker, you have to look at who supplies the ball and where you want him to operate, hold up play? 18 yards box dont move, come in from a wing area? ball threaded to feet by whom, cross to head by whom, you know what I mean its hard to predict what they are looking for, im not sure the coach gets much of a say anyway, if its which one do you want 1,2 or 3 and you say er none I want a Kane, a Rooney another Drogba, ah we can dream

Isak if we could would be a dream, cant see him leaving Newcastle though

Dani Olmo? Nobody mentioning him. Could feasibly win the Euros next few weeks leading the line for Spain. There's worse out there, incl this article

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

Olmo is traditionally a 10

Agreement between Chelsea and AstonVilla for the signing of Jhon Jáder Durán. He would arrive for a figure close to €50M.

They are negotiating terms with the player to sign the contract. Follow up to the news I gave you last week on @EnLaJugadaRCN

Solanke makes the most sense except for the price tag. Has to be below £50mil, if not then it’s Guirassy for me and reassess available options next summer. Feel like we have a good overall record of tier 2 or tier 3 strikers coming in and doing the business. Nico has improved a lot but I think a veteran like Guirassy or Solanke is also what’s needed.

I agree on Watkins. Feels like this is his level… maybe Spurs 🤣

Wonder if we could get Tammy on loan. Could help him recover from his injury, buys us another season to convince Sesko or find another top target.

The price is sky high for all of them, so I can only go by who I think would be a good fit. Gyokeres, Alvarez, Guirassy get my vote but I don't think any are happening. Would like Solanke, but not for 65m.

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

Solanke will only be that much if other clubs come in which is unlikely

Just going by this supposed release clause. Judging by the wording around it, I don't see them shifting much below that. Maybe they'd be interested in someone like Fofana though, could help us out.

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

I’ll be surprised if he goes for more than 50m

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

My top target would be Isak but will cost north of 80m and the rest probably

It’s a nightmare trying to find a striker. The real no.9’s are rare as most want to drift wide. I certainly wouldn’t pay 100 million for Osimhen and my first choice is staying put for this season which for him is probably a good decision. Toney and Alvarez are probably the most interesting. People who earn a lot more than me can have the responsibility.

John McGinn on Jhon Duran: “Big Jhon...he’s a bit nuts. He’s a nightmare sometimes to have in your team. But he has moments of quality, we need to try and keep his feet on the ground the next couple of days.

"Jhon doesn't have a scooby who they [Duran Duran] are. He does not have a clue. I mean Jhon I don't even think he knows he's actually in the city of Birmingham never mind who Duran Duran are. But, he's such a raw player, some days you think what a good boy, some days you think come on big man have a bit more respect. But he has everything to be one of the top strikers in the world and hopefully he can do that here."

🤔

Don’t like that quote at all

Guirassy, Vlahovic, Toney. Or keep Lukaku as a stop gap and go for Sesko next season

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

Lukaku should be nowhere near our club

Mitch Cumstein's avatar

Evan Ferguson - this might be the lowest price he'll end up costing due to a difficult second half of the season and we know the club have a long standing interest.

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

It’s still Brighton and still a ridiculous fee

Alex Carter's avatar

Really good summary, Luke!!

Si also mentioned Openda a few months. Arguably, he probably wouldn't have suited Pochettino but what about him in Maresca’s system?

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

Could be a good fit but think he is more suited to a direct style or a team that counter quickly rather than a patient passing style in the middle phase

Alex Carter's avatar

Yeah that makes sense.

Andy Setterfield's avatar

Fair assessment however I wouldn’t let Toney pick a lock let alone a premiership defense.

So we are at an impasse unless they go for someone like Solanke.

Alex Carter's avatar

That seems the top and bottom of it, Andy.

We were also linked with Evan Ferguson but that seems to have gone cold after an indifferent 2nd season

Luke Rushbrook's avatar

Wouldn’t touch with a barge poll for the price they value him at
