WOW Si!!! You are pissed and you are right on with your opinion. Yes we have made some great moves but Sanchez, KDH, Felix and Disai should not be playing. Our young Academy players are much better. As to our manager being told who to play and praise that is frightening. I sincerely hope that’s not true.
I cannot disagree with you The Score. We need some serious intelligent thinking and let’s be honest. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out what is required in terms of types of player. Whether they’re available at a price we can afford and not willing to agree to our wage structure is another matter.
The only other thing I would say is that whilst the four window message was the aim any big business has to be flexible and adapt to the changing environment. The reality was the first window has to be written off for reasons we all know and last January was a dead window for all football clubs. My expectation from then was it would take at least another two windows (January and the summer) to get where we anticipated we would be at the outset of the four window plan. Let’s see how it plays out.
Similar to what you are saying, I don't think the SDs are 100% wrong on everything. There are elements of their overall strategy that are good and should be continued. However, I completely agree with you that they don't have enough focus on specific near term needs.
They either need to adjust their strategy or the owners need to bring in a new director who can build and improve (NOT completely throw away) the foundation they have built.
Absolutely agree with most of what you say. I'm just about to tear my hair out at some of the decisions. I have supported Chelsea since I was 10...65years now and gave never said a bad word about the bit there comes a time a rant is 100% necessary. Our ladies have got it right, our kids generally do too. It's time for the senior team to do the same. I am not pointing a finger at any of the players... They know who they are but the SD's are an embarrassment
Ultimately it's unrealistic. Wheeling and dealing is part and parcel to navigate the every tightening financial regs. It's not pretty but it's the reality for us and other clubs. Both Newcastle and Villa have done PSR deals. Which big clubs haven't? United, Spuds? Where are they? City? Fraudulent financial reporting. And they sold Palmer to help balance the books. Arsenal haven't wheeled and dealed and they have no striker. The environment has changed. But people seem to want us to act like the early years of Roman where the consequences of mistakes were minor. Marina always wheeled and dealed.
But you don't need to navigate these regulations if you're smart.
You don't overpay for the likes of Disasi, you just keep Chalobah.
You don't overpay for the liked of Mudryk, you just keep CHO.
If you do those two things - as an example - then you don't find yourself in a situation where you have to force out Gallagher and replace him with inferior players like Dewsbury-Hall and Felix.
The temptation to "do something" is the issue here. Less is often more. Would we be in a better place if we'd kept Livramento, Hall, Chalobah, Gallagher, Hudson-Odoi etc rather than spending fortunes on Gusto, Cucurella, Veiga, Disasi, Dewsbury-Hall, Mudryk? I think we would. We must note that the previous ownership also used Cobham as a cash cow.
We absolutely must not continue spending £30m on squad players when we have better academy products. We'll not sell them on at a profit.
If you're not demanding the immediate dismissal of the SDs I'm not sure what you're expecting to happen. They've been here two years now and have shown us exactly who they are and they won't change. They're incapable of putting a squad together that can compete at the highest level and they are appalling negotiators. Plus they have treated some of our players (like Chalobah) appallingly, only to be humiliated into calling him back off loan. That alone should warrant their removal from the club. If you're think they are going to change then you're living in cloud cuckoo land I'm afraid.
think fans need to play a part in this somehow.... but unfortunately there is no medium to express ourselves other than social media. Maybe once the match going fans also start to express their disapproval.
Other then that iv always maintained that the owners will only learn the hard way and that would mean failing on the pitch / results.... hope it does not come to that
Haha, yes. I still believe the ambition is genuine and our first team / head coach are all good - but the squad building and approach to transfers is shocking. We have some young talent coming in in the summer but still, we need about 5 top class players in key positions, and its simply not good enough.
It’s just today’s world if we are not linked with or buying a player every 5 minutes people now just get bored. I don’t know what is going on at the club and I really don’t think they do. The players have become just commodities to buy and sell irrespective of wether they are the right player/person for the club now. I am finding it almost impossible to trust the owners as I’m struggling to trust anything that out of the USA.
It will be a beautiful thing, world class, 100 point team, the golden age starts today, lets Make Chelsea Great Again, think we need some merch hats MCGA
"There’s literally no excuse for Chelsea (or any big club) to be run this way."
You're right which leaves me to wonder... is there stuff going on behind the scenes and with the financials that we are unaware of that is forcing them to try and seek out these deals to save face? Is there a reason they are unable to go out and purchase a player without all this pissing about?
I recall questions being raised over our FFP and financials a while ago which were seemingly squashed with the sale of the hotels and the womens team, but I really do wonder if there has been a smokescreen of sorts. Not to mention their insistence that certain players MUST be sold. Why upon bringing Trevoh back in to the fold are we being briefed that they are adamant that the plan is to sell him in the summer? He quite literally fits the mould of what we want and need, so why is he being forced out the door to splurge on another centre half in his place? Is the plan to leverage him to Palace in an effort to get Guehi at the cost of "pure profit" from homegrown Chalobah, combined with the sell on clause in an effort to finesse the books and raise the value attained by the club and if so it simply makes me wonder why... it almost feels less about Guehi and his ability fitting the squad than it does about a cheesy deal, not to detract from Guehi and what he does offer, but it makes me wonder.
I also look at other players essentially pushed out the door and their absurd valuations, there is a reason we are struggling to make sales. Carney being one of them, as much as I love the guy and the flashes of talent he showed for us, no club in their right mind is spending £40m on him.
Flipping Veiga for profit is another raised eyebrow for me, they can say it's him pushing for it so he can play CB more frequently but I'm not so sure.
I fully believe players like Joao Felix were obtained to be used as bargaining chips as opposed to fitting a need in the squad. With the SD's seeing the "value" as more than what they paid for them.
I don't believe we'll see either concerns addressed in this window. I don't think we'll get a striker or a keeper. I wouldn't be shocked to see a swap deal involving either Nkunku or Joao Felix in exchange for Garnacho in an effort to obtain the more "valuable" player while massaging the books for PSR/FFP.
There’s a reason why 90% of their deals are ‘opportunistic’. It’s because there is no clear vision of the squad planning. All these ‘swap deals’ further supports this point. Clearlake ironically think they’re smart by trying to adopt an American sports model of player trading. Gupta’s hiring was a clear indication to me. However, what we’ve done with the 1.5bn is pure negligence and those who are responsible SDs and Clearlake need to swallow their ego and get a top level football executive of the level of Edwards to run it all.
2 things they still haven’t addressed key targets striker etc & relationship with the fans, have Egbali and co fallen out and trying to buy the club what’s the story is this causing the internal politics etc clarity of a plan
Manager I’m on board with but we are going Man Utd direction where the identity of the club has gone becuae of toxic internal politics @si would good to get a internal scope of the internal feeling at the club
Not sure theat address my point. You talked about connection with the fans and they sang "we've got our Chelsea back". These are the hard-core match going fans. Did they lie?
I’m not saying anyone is lying I go to most games and it’s the away fans Chelsea are the hardcore fans Stamford bridge was flat a lot of last season and against wolves and there is no connection with owners and fans so I would say we don’t have our Chelsea back until we win something
I think in terms of connection with the manager, and a team with talent we believe in, yes we have. We have a great first team, but our depth isn't there, as we've seen in the last month. Maresca simply doesn't trust a lot of his squad players in the PL, and we don't have enough depth in key positions. So it's both/and for me.
I agree with that. But that's why I think more patience is needed. These SDs have only been working with a manager for 6 months. If we sack any of them, then we're back at square 1 potentially. Then you're changing players, changing managers all over again. We need stability to build relationships. The SDs certainly seem to respect Maresca and I'm sure are keen to back him, hence why they now seem to be trying to rectify the mistakes and sell the players he doesn't trust.
There’s not an endless money pit, they’ve spent so much already. Surely the reason they’re proposing these deals, rightly or wrongly, is because of that

Well, Well Written. I HOPE the owners read this.
Those two are a JOKE!

A while back there was a chap who swapped a paperclip for something which he swapped for something else and eventually he ended up with a house.
Our SD's seem to swap houses and end up with paperclips.
😂😂😂😂😂

exactly everyone wants a class of 92 and our academy was doing the do just needed a mix of senior players,
Veiga, Disasi, Dewsbury-Hall, Mudryk, what did that lot cost and what ware they worth now?Red Black Odd or even spin the wheel ....

This is excellent Score!
Happy that we are finally pretty much on the same page!

I think they will sell us and buy Arsenal so they can have MAGA on their baseball caps.
