Completely agree except if a world class manager comes along i would still stick with Poch, it was always going to take time if we get Europa or
Conference it's steps in the right direction even up to this point you can see a team playing for the manager compare that to UTD it's day and night lets push on now and get Stamford bridge rocking last game at home hopefully Poch may even engage with the fans for me that's the next steps..
Smallpoint, you say "less a third of what he spent last summer at Chelsea alone and less than we’re likely to spend this summer", Poch was handed signings he spent zero, so maybe he has more credit to deal with the poor signings, im sure he also has nothing to do with my all these kids on potential .
Think you can do a stat only article with both sides of the coin, split the season up for us, i'm not impressed with the goals against, defence keeps you in a game, strikers and goals win you games. I have the popcorn ready for the merry go round of what striker comes in
@The Score. It is so good to see such a well put together and balanced review of the season.
I totally concur with your views and vision for the future. Most read my comments will not be surprised by that. It’s not that I don’t think that happens mistakes it’s more than I think those mistakes are understandable I am not surprised but the first 10 games did not produce the results we had hopeful. We only have to think back to last season, the massive amount of change from January to July, a new management team and the age of our team to realise in reality this was going to happen
That said if we think back some of those first 10 games we actually deserve to win 100% agree with all of your data and think set out why we need to keep the current management team (all of them) and maintain a high level of patience and the stability that is essential to continue to grow on the right path. I don’t even think it’s a matter of who else is out there it’s a matter of that stability and consistency.
I like how this had not realised how many points we gained from losing positions and that is definitely a a plus point. I thought last weekends win over Nottingham Forest also added to that in a way that good teams win when they are not playing well and it’s a long time we can say that we won a game, from a losing position when we’re not playing well.
Thank you very much for this well thought out article
Team gelling, manager making changes in game that change things subs or slight tweaks
If we win last 2 games we would be ending on 6 unbeaten and 5 wins on bounce (should be 6/6 but VAR)
People getting ruled out means no gettable option that’s an upgrade, although I’ve been poch out in summer since around cup final it was always cause there was options on table but with a lot ruled out it would be stupid to sack him
Poch definitely deserves another season, the improvement is noticiable and to have done it with this young squad and so many injuries is worthy of admiration.
Agree completely. I am seeing real signs of improvement - not just in the team performances but also in Poch's set ups and his in-game management. Also, for all the Chelsea fans who want him out, is there really a stand-out replacement? Touchel, Nagelsman, Amorin, RDZ, Mourinho and Southgate (yikes!) - none of them inspire me that they will be any better than Poch - and I can think of strong arguments against all of them. What worries me more is some other club coming in for Poch and him moving on!!! To be clear I do think long-term we will need to find an alternative - but now is not the time.
Completely agree with all your points. The data is key and so is the evidence that a team is beginning to form and gel together and that they are behind their coach. This season has been a new beginning - and a tough one due to the injuries and the age and inexperience of the players thrown together last year. Stability is key now going into next season.
Great balanced article and agree wholeheartedly- let’s see what this team can achieve with a couple more intentional signings and stability from the top down!
It’s a no brainer! Poch has to stay. Period.
Superb article , agree with almost everything you say.

Great article. I didn’t realize the stat about coming back from losing positions. That’s a clear sign of the togetherness and team spirit.
Very interesting to also compare this with Pochettino’s first season at Spurs. Well done.
The big improvement between Poch season 1 at Spurs and the following seasons was the defence. I am hopeful of the same
