Clubs have just 8 days left in the summer transfer window to get any last minute deals done for 2026.
Most clubs would ideally liked to have their squads confirmed by the weekend just gone, the opening Premier League weekend. But it doesn’t work that way, especially in the current market of inflated fees.
Clubs know that if they leave things until the final week and days of the window, then they are more likely to get a better price for the players they are pursuing, especially if said player desperately wants to go. So there is a tactical reason to wait it out until the final days, or even day, of the window.
Clubs are certainly doing this with Chelsea right now, but it’s become a real hindrance. Chelsea have also slapped very high fees on the heads of players they either want to sell, or are more than open to selling. And this has also become a hindrance.
