Is the door really open for him to stay?

Imagine if Romelu Lukaku stayed at Chelsea now this season, after everything that has happened and being on his ridiculously high wages? It’s unthinkable, right?

Yes, it really is….

But, Gianluca Di Marzio sent the Chelsea fanbase into a frenzy on Wednesday night when he suggested that the door is still open for Lukaku to stay at Chelsea.

He reported Mauricio Pochettino would like to speak with Lukaku to understand the feasibility of his re-inclusion in the squad.

I always say that you can NEVER completely rule anything out happening in a transfer window and I have actually been told to expect a ‘twist’ or two today and in the last days of this window with Chelsea planning something and we even think it might be a new striker link. But no, in my opinion, Lukaku staying will NOT happen.

However, I can explain what has happened already in this situation and it is true that Pochettino HAS actually been open to Lukaku staying, but much earlier this summer and not recently.
