Milan update on future of Man Utd & Chelsea-linked Leao as transfer talk rages around Portuguese forward | Goal.com UK

The news came in yesterday that we had all feared and expected after seeing the harrowing incident and hearing the screams. Armando Broja has done his ACL and will be out for the rest of this season at the very least.

Fabrizio Romano says Broja is aiming to be back for the start of next season, but even that might be very ambitious. Absolutely gutted for Broja.

Either way, Chelsea have decided to replace Broja with a new striker in January, and will actively pursue the right one.

They will not panic buy and they will not rush into the first name they look at, and as always, there will be many names on the shortlist and many names being considered. Chelsea, and no club, will ever just actively pursue one target for any one position, they need options for obvious reasons.

I’m told that the club are likely to try and stick to their ethos of bringing in largely young players to move forward into a new era and for the future of the club, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a young player come in to replace Broja, who let’s remember, is also young still. We are not looking to replace experience here.

There will be a host of names being looked at, with some already being on the shortlist and are being immeditely considered. Chelsea decided that they will search for a new striker as soon as Broja got injured, they were proactive and wise and knew that they would be a striker down. They immedietely spoke with Graham Potter about this, who agreed that they needed to now go on the hunt for a new striker.

Let’s take a look at some of the options (there will be more):
