The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 27th May 2024!
Morning all,
I’m back home today from our short trip away to the countryside, although I’ve hardly been able to relax. Partly because we have a 3 month old, but mainly because Chelsea are hunting for a new manager and this has made me super busy. I did my best to keep updates going out whilst I was away and keeping up with the info in the media and from my sources. But it was hard because things are very much being kept under wraps, and things have also been moving and changing fast. It’s been crazy.
It’s also been almost impossible to write articles right now because they become outdated within hours and even minutes sometimes, with so much going on and so many contrasting stories.
In terms of the latest on the manager search, the best place to head to because I was writing updates late last night, is the Substack App in the chat section. That’s where I have the very latest on what I know and where I had the first drop on the Enzo Maresca news that came out last night. In a nutshell, no final decision yet, but he’s looking most likely right now. Anything can still happen until an announcement is made, and luckily I’ll be on the live blog today so things will be easier to keep up with and have the very latest updated news on there all through the day and evening no doubt again.
I did put a bunch of articles out over the weekend but as I say, they will be well be out-dated now due to the nature of the situation we are in. So you can find a selection of those on the home page.
The latest one I had out was the Sunday news report last night, but things even changed since then and again, the latest will be found on the Substack App chat section and I’ll repeat that news on the live blog this morning for those who maybe don’t have the app. You can check that article here though, and as I’ve been clear, I’m against Roberto De Zerbi as are the majority on this site. There’s a chance to vote for the alleged shortlisted candidates in this too and who you want. This article dropped in your emails last night too.
I also put a bit of a profile article on the manager I want to see appointed, Ruben Amorim. You can read that in full in here. But top journalists are now ruling Amorim out completely, so this is probably even just a waste of time now. He was the ideal candidate out of an underwhelming bunch for me. Sigh. Makes no sense at all to me and the club are about to take a HUGE risk whoever they appoint, if the shortlists are correct.
Luke jumped on to help me out yesterday too as I was traveling and there’s loads going on. But even his article is now out-dated, but you can check it here still if you wish.
Away from managers thankful, I also had a pretty big sourced update on Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze from what I am hearing. I reported back in January that Chelsea will push for Olise in the summer, and that noise is all building up now. Read that in full in here.
Head to the live blog from 8.30am this morning to get all the manager and Chelsea news as it comes in today! I’m already exhausted and today hasn’t even really started yet.
Peace, Si.

Maresca will be an unmitigated disaster. It's a pretty impressive feat to compile a shortlist that is so shit, and then also manage to choose the two worst people from said list. Whilst I have doubts over McKenna, he clearly has a lot more about him than Maresca, and equally Frank has a much more impressive body of work than De Zerbi.
However, the brutal reality is that none of them should be within a million miles of the Chelsea job and the fact that they are is a damning indictment on everyone involved in the "process".
They clearly are not speaking with the same voice regarding a new manager. Basically they haven’t got a clue which it is how it appears.
I suppose when they have gone through enough managers they are bound to get one right. We can only hope.
