Chelsea continue their striker pursuit

As everyone is fully aware of by now, Chelsea want to sign a new number 9 this summer, and they have a few targets being worked on.

We have been reporting on a number of names over the last couple of weeks, with the two main ones being Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland. Chelsea have held talks with both of their reps for these deals.

This is how Chelsea work by the way. I see many people misjudging this, thinking that because Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Lukaku, that they wont also be working on a deal to sign Haaland at the same time. This is literally how transfers work, you very rarely put all your eggs in the same basket, because so many things can go wrong or change in these deals, even right up to the very last minute.

Now Lukaku obviously said he is staying at Inter Milan this summer. Well duh, of course he says that. He can’t say anything else, and he can’t even be coy on his future, unless he has publicly came out and requested a transfer. What if he says he wants to leave, but then Chelsea or any other club cannot get the deal done? He wouldn’t be the most popular guy around Milan then at all right?

I will reiterate though, this isn’t claiming that Lukaku will leave still, I’m just saying to always take these comments, and comments from owners, managers, agents etc with a large pinch of salt. This is silly season, things will change all the time.

This is some news on Haaland.

Whilst Lukaku is far from over yet, I have been told over the weekend by a reliable source that Chelsea’s talks to sign Haaland are advancing, despite reports that Dortmund will not sell this summer.

I don’t expect anything to happen soon, but Chelsea are getting some more positive reactions in their attempts to move through the negotiations to sign Haaland this summer.

Chelsea still believe there is a deal to be done for the young striker this summer, and the talks certainly do not suggest anything different at this stage.
