Cole Palmer was absolutely crushed to have been left out of England’s World Cup squad in the summer.
Of course, he understood the reasoning, having spent much of his recent times nursing a reoccurring injury that he could not shake, and his form suffering as a result.
The Palmer that Chelsea fans grew to love and worship, became a distant memory across the last couple of seasons. Their talisman had disappeared. There was a lot going on for Palmer, off the pitch as well - with some personal things playing on his mind.
But this season has seen the Palmer of old and in fact, an even better Palmer than that, turn up at Stamford Bridge so far. He’s been like a new beast. His form has been superb and rightfully earned him a place back in the England squad.
