The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Tuesday 19th March 2024!
Morning all,
Hope you had a good Monday, as good as international break Monday’s can be, but yes, we’re in another one. Thankfully, we have had a nice break from international ‘breaks’ but we always knew this March one was looming. Chelsea had been building up some momentum again in terms of results at least, so could have probably done without this break. It also means that it looks like injury prone players like Ben Chilwell are going to be playing for England when he has barely even returned to Chelsea. Sigh.
It is what it is, and fear not, the Chelsea content will continue thick and fast on this site regardless!
We have five corkers for you today, and I wanted to actually start with Luke’s article for the day, because this is a really good and an interesting little write up. He has detailed how Chelsea can and are likely to be able to make some big funds this summer before another little spending spree and to stay within FFP and PSR rules. When you put it like this here, things don’t seem as scary as they say!
My articles are mainly more reactions from the Leicester game, or things that I highlighted as a result of that. The first one being the importance of selecting a designated penalty taker for the season and the stupidity of Mauricio Pochettino not doing this. More on that in here.
The next one was Robert Sanchez’s performance once again making me unconvinced on our current goalkeeper options. I’ve not ruled out Djordje Petrovic becoming our regular number one, but I’m not yet convinced and this has led me to think that we actually need to sign a new stopper this summer. You can also give your thoughts in some polls on this one in here.
As is often the case, I don’t have a newsletter without a bit of sourced info or article to add to it. Today, I have a sourced story on the future of Kepa Arrizabalaga and the clubs showing an interest. Will we finally get him off our books this summer? Find out in here.
As always, the live blog was running yesterday and a massive thanks once again to Joe for running it. I am aiming to filter more back in to it by the end of this week, but it will always be running regardless! Check out all the latest Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the same place here.
Next live blog will be live from around 8.30am this morning, see you there!
Peace, Si.

i am gonna have to unsubscribe to this mate. you are too negative on poch. you cannot see the wood for the trees on what a job this guy is doing. and how he has reacted to setbacks with grace and calm, despite getting completely chastised by all quarters. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to work out how much of a malaise the club is in, the blame for which can be entirely put at the owners door. but despite that, there are some serious greenshoots of some players finding their feet, better play up front, better goals, more goals. defence is shaky as anything, but what do you expect from a young team who has the 'fans' on them 247. ive been a religious follower of chelsea since pre abramovich. i was there for the first splurge, and for all the good times we've had over the past 20 years. i was sad that roman had to leave but some things are bigger than football. in steps the new owners, firebrands who dismantle a half decent squad, drops a billion quid, employs new recruiters to enact a talented but raw, sub 23yo transfer strategy. most of whom have not played in the prem. ladder on that the winter world cup and subsequent injury crisis, and the emergence of teams outside of the 'top 6', and you get a perfect storm. what would you expect to happen? and yet poch is at fault. i would say, who on earth is gonna take the job on after him? can we even afford to pay him off? i think if he leaves we will not know what we've got until its gone
