As I said last week, just because the summer transfer window is over, it does not mean the transfer talk will stop, far from it.
That is because Chelsea are not done yet in terms of improving the squad, and also because there is always going to be movement in the squad and players going, and others coming in to replace them.
Chelsea want an overall settled starting Xl and squad, in an ideal world. They are looking to now bring that stability under Xabi Alonso. But we are not there yet.
As you will know from the drama of transfer deadline day, Chelsea tried to sign at least one new midfielder this summer. There was a chunk of the window when they were actually going for two, especially if Enzo Fernandez was leaving. But in the end, he left so late in the window that they ran out of time to even bring one new midfielder in other than Jordan Henderson, and the already signed Valentin Barco.
