Things are starting to get real now for Chelsea. At the time of writing this article on Sunday morning, it is still unknown as to whether we will be in the Champions League next season or not.
And as we all know, playing in the Champions League does not just bring huge financial rewards and keep current players content, it also helps attract the very best new players to the club.
Simon Johnson of The Athletic:
‘Chelsea see being in the Champions League as putting them firmly in the top tier of destinations and able to compete for signings with the biggest clubs in Europe even more.’
He’s spot on with this as well. The new striker, which will be THE most important new signing that we HAVE to get right this summer, will depend on this.
