Not enough people on this site are in the real world they still think we are going to buy the players we need. We are just not. We have no money left and it’s been mostly wasted. We don’t pay the wages expected by top players. We only get players from Strasbourg. Sadly Stamford Bridge as it is doesn’t cut it. Go on YouTube and watch Business in Sport and given our debt see what a financial mess we are in. UEFA aren’t as tolerant about debt as the premiership they are going to come down hard on us. There are no sugar daddy’s any more because it’s not allowed. Please just get real.
I would rather suggest Chelsea move on Enzo Fernandez since he is a grumbler and sell him to Real Madrid for around E100 MN and get Rodrygo and Eduardo Camavinga for E50MN each who both need more playing time which Chelsea can easily guarantee. Rodrygo will overcome his injury issues and be a long time asset for CFC. Camavinga can sit in front of defence while Caicedo roams around doing his bomber work. At the same time Dario Essugo who looks quite good can be loaned to a lower level EPL team and then CFC can get Joao Gomes from Wolves as Camavinga's back up. Gomes has EPL experience while Camavinga comes with La Liga experience. Garnacho can then be sold to Strasbourg in exchange for Diego Moreira and Jamie Bynoe Gittens loaned to a lower level EPL team to get his EPL fitness up to the mark. This would overall lift CFCs midfield and left wing which is heavily impaired now.
Rodrgyo's wage at Real is £276,000 per week - can't Chelsea pay him £290,000 per week or £300000 / week especially as he would be a marque player when it could pay dead wood Raheem Sterling £325000 per week for sitting there and swatting flies for 2 years? I think it is possible. Camavinga earns only £210,000-£220,000/ week around James salaary.
The very simple answer is "No". And in the case of Rodrygo in particular, rightly so.
You can't go giving him that sort of money. You just can't.
Sterling's contract was a mistake. A huge one.
Most of our players are on lower contracts with incentives. So unless these players are going to decide to leave Madrid for lower wages we're not going to sign them. And why would they do that?
The players to pay the wages for were the likes of Olise and Cherki. Instead we gave Pedro Neto £170k per week to ruin attacks.
Wharton and Rogers would be a cataclysmic waste of money. Rogers' underlying numbers are worse than *ALL* of Estevao, Garnacho and Neto, and Wharton is a massively inferior version of Enzo and is even more of a liability defensively.
I struggle to think of a way to spend £200m as badly as if we bought those two specific players.

Meanwhile, in the real world, CFC have no interest in adding players on massive wages. The transfer fee is irrelevant. It's the wages.

Mitch it’s great to hear someone talking sense.
Well written good sir!
