Djordje (Đorđe) Petrovic

Player profile;

Age: 23

Nationality: Serbian

Position: Goalkeeper

Height: 6ft4in

I am not going to claim that I have seen this guy play a lot of (or any) games, but I have done some extensive research and that is what I am going to attempt to portray to you lovely people!

A Serbian international Goalkeeper with 2 caps for his country to date, his career started at Belgradian side Cukaricki in the Serbian premier division, he played 86 times for them across 3 seasons.

In April of 2022 the MLS and New England Revolution came calling. They bought him for around a million US dollars, a fairly significant fee for a then 21 year old GK. He has gone from strength to strength since playing in the MLS. He was included in the MLS All-star team in 2023.

Style of play;

According to ‘WhoScored’ he has a significant amount of strengths, they include Reflexes, Penalty Saving, Saving both close and long range shots and concentration. His only supposed weakness is long passing, our coaches and GK team will be able to improve that.

He has a great presence and is a commanding GK who will come out and claim crosses and is quick off his line.

Verdict;

To me this seems like more than just a No.2, it seems like a GK that can come in, settle down and really challenge Sanchez for the No.1 Jersey. To be honest that is exactly what we need, I think Sanchez could get a little complacent if we just signed a 30 odd year old No.2 for cup rotation.

This should and will push both Goalkeepers to improve and should hopefully reap the rewards for us, anything is better than Kepa and Mendy, right?

From what I have read and researched he seems more than adequate, with excellent potential at only 23.
