The young guys would run 2/3 of the pitch looking brilliant and end up in a dead end. The midfield pressed too hard and were turned easily, or the midfield wasn't there because it was in attack.
Midfielders, Delap, Estevao, even Cole taking low xg shots. I guess that is what you expect in an exhibition.
Team can only improve from that outing and start playing with some maturity.
I do agree with Simon that Palestra stood out. Not so much with what he did but just his attitude. You could tell in a second he was no space cadet on his first date.

Concerned that Acheampong was seen walking to often but he wasn't the only defender doing that, didn't look up for it so I'm wondering if he has let the new players coming in and the speculation on if he will be sold get between his ears.
Tosin didn't organise the defence at all in my mind and really he should have.

Finally one or two players treated it as though it was an exhibition match and not at all seriously and I suspect Alonso will want to stamp on that.

This game has got very little to do with next season as so many won’t even get a game. Some of the players playing need to be moved on as they are clearly not good enough although I admit to only watching highlights. Chelsea make you pay to watch a preseason game!
What does the £14.99 get you for a year. I still think preseason should be free because kids could watch it and get interested in Chelsea. I see so many young kids with PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona shirts. Chelsea’s demographic is certainly on the older side. It shouldn’t be just about how much you can make or maybe speculate to accumulate.

I’ve been a member as long as I can remember but I obviously let it lapse because of BlueCo and I deleted the 5th Stand app because I was sick of the continuous propaganda it fed. Maybe I will have to think about membership again as I like watching the academy games.
Yes I'd stopped using 5th stand many years ago and let the subscription lapse as I felt I received precious little for the payment.
Glad your taking another look, just seemed to me ridiculous to pay £9.99 for a single match when a years subs were £14.99 and if I didn't like the content then i could ignore it.
Yes you used to get some pretty good stuff with the membership which I have stored somewhere. I will have to do something to watch the stuff I want to. £9.99 for a preseason friendly just seems wrong.
Watching it live the defence was terrible but the defensive midfield positioning was also very average with western Sydney midfield often and I mean often running through Chelsea midfield. Emely o was fine going forward but again went missing in defence.
Delap was maximum a 4/5 yesterday, one of the worst strikers I’ve witnessed to play for this club

Delap was a 5 at best imo. Was really poor.

Hi Lee the short answer is I don’t know however if you go on the Chelsea . Com site and look for cfc+ there might be an option.
