I want to start this by emphasising this is not an article criticising N’Golo Kante or his performances, because to me, he is still world-class and a hugely important player for us.

Would I entertain selling him this summer? Perhaps, I’m 50/50. His age, his injuries over the last year, one-year on his contract, risk losing for free if he doesn’t sign an extension, there are many reasons that make me ponder this question and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to seriously think about it.

However, I’m not here for that debate right now and as I say, I still adore Kante and think he’s one of the best midfielders in the world.

I’ll begin with saying that in Madrid this week, Kante was clearly physically tired when he failed to stop the ball in the lead up to two Real Madrid goals. This was totally out of character for him. But I think I noticed something even bigger than that. Not only was he physically tired, he was mentally tired.
