The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 27th February 2025!
Morning all,
Welcome to Thursday’s Newsletter! Not sure yet what is happening with today’s Podcast, but we will get something out as always! I’ve not heard from Jai, just hoping he is OK.
The Chelsea fan protests ahead of the Southampton game on Tuesday had some effect, at least from a publicity standpoint. There was about 300 fans there making their voices and feelings heard, and it got some good air time. I believe it was also a bit too messy in terms of the messages being sent, but it was good that it happened. I put out my reactions and more imagery from the night here.
Sticking with the Saints win, which was a hugely important one, my next article is on Enzo Maresca’s stubbornness with his system, my biggest gripe with him right now. I get he wants to play possession football, but sometimes when things aren’t working, you need other ideas. I cannot believe he told Filip Jorgensen he would sub him off if he kicks it long!! I could not believe what I was reading. My thoughts on that and why we should be less predictable here.
I’ve always maintained throughout that I don’t think we have ever been a million miles off ‘being back’ again but have not quite been there. You all know what I think the team needs to get there, and it’s up to you whether you think that is a lot or not. But I do think we are close if the things here are addressed in the right way. Trouble is, I have no confidence that they will be.
So, with the season run in now coming up going into our last 11 games, how will we finish the season? Well, the fans in this community have been voting on this and making their predictions, and they believe we will finish the season with 64 points, just one more than Mauricio Pochettino finished last season with? IF that happens, and of course these are only predictions, then that would be a complete disaster, no? Let’s see what happens, but read all about that and get those full predictions game by game in here.
Finally, round up all of your latest Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the same place for your convenience here. I have nothing on the Luis Campos rumours yet but I am checking in. Will update today’s blog if I have anything on it.
See you all on the next live blog from around 8.30am this morning!
Peace, Si.
