The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 29th January 2024!

Morning all,

It was an interesting weekend of FA Cup football, with Chelsea drawing with Aston Villa on Friday evening. Some other great games were played too and some big stories and memories were made. That is truly the magic of this cup and why I love it so much.

So first thing’s first, lets have a look at a couple of our review articles on the Chelsea vs Villa game.

I have my debrief article here - this is where I give my thoughts on the game in general, and rate the manager and the players individually.

And we also had Seun with his much deeper dive analysis on the game fully equipped with the videos and diagrams to support it. This is a fantastic review here.

Of course, all the focus now for the next few days will be any remaining business in the transfer window. The window will close at 11pm in England and midnight in Scotland on Thursday 1 February. This leaves 4/5 days to get any late business done.

I am still expecting some late flurries of business for Chelsea, with a potential scenario of one striker out and one in. But let’s see what bubbles up.

I put out a few articles yesterday with some big updates (as is the nature of the beast in transfer windows, some of these stories might have developed already since writing). I’ve also written why I would actually now be in favour of signing Wilson, and I’d also be in favour of triggering the release clause of Viktor Gyokeres (one or the other). I have reasoned that in here, as well as delivering further sourced news on the above two mentioned players, as well as Karim Benzema and Victor Osimhen!

And for the last article in this newsletter (this is the second newsletter in a row where we have SIX articles out for you!), I have honed in on what I believe we still need to complete our squad rebuild. I believe we are getting there, but we are still a few players off bring complete in my view. Perhaps surprisingly, I think we need an elite winger as well as an elite striker. I explain all in here, as well as speak on the two other positions we still need to sign in. But we are certainly getting there.
