EXCL: Liam Delap at Cobham a day early, Sources: Mike Maignan and Jamie Gittens situations as it stood, Fans on the fence about Delap & Jackson, Chelsea in for a favour from Man City? More...
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Wednesday 11th June 2025!
Morning all,
Yesterday was the first transfer deadline day of the summer as clubs tried to get deals done for the Club World Cup. The summer window opens again on June the 16th.
It was a bit of a frustrating and annoying day as a Chelsea fan in all honesty, and we became a bit of a laughing stock with our all so public dealings failing.
I had the live blog running as always yesterday and you can see how it all unfolded right up to the deadline for the window closing at 7pm last night. This covers everything from across the last 24 hours here.
I had a couple of early sourced transfer news articles out yesterday morning detailing what some of the situations were in that moment. You can see the Mike Maignan and Jamie Gittens situations as they were at that time here, but obviously things moved on a lot since I wrote this.
I also put out an exclusive on Liam Delap heading to Cobham a day earlier to get used to his new surroundings. You can read the full story on that one here.
I did a poll on whether you would be happy to go into the new season with just Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap as our two striker options, and people really are on the fence about that one. Story here.
With Manchester City signing Marcus Bettinelli so quickly and so easily, it makes me wonder whether we are after another favour from them… I’ve put a little conspiracy theory (as such) together here on some targets we might try to get from City now!
See you all on the next live blog from around 8.30am today. I’ll also be following up on a number of stories from deadline day and reporting whether Chelsea will be back for Mike Maignan or not (it’s different to what I initially heard and said yesterday). More stories on the plans for attackers and the rest of the window too!
Peace, Si.

Again it seems like Man City and Liverpool get the players they want and we procrastinate. Maignan is an upgrade on what we have.
