EXCL: Dortmund enquire for Christopher Nkunku, Fine example of negotiations but pick your battles, Would you take Marc Guehi for £40m (less with sell-on)? Big squad wise but can cause issues, More....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Friday 1st August 2025!
Morning all,
We’re in August and that means the Premier League is back soon with our first game in just 17 days now! We have a couple of friendlies to play before that though, but it’s all approaching now.
Chelsea will be doing bits in the market over this time as well though with plenty still to do.
First of all, grab all your latest general Chelsea news from across the last 24 hours in the live blog from yesterday here. This covers everything and all the latest transfer stories as well. Xavi Simons remains ON by the way, but goal posts have been moved… I’ll have more over the weekend.
I also had an exclusive article out yesterday on another club enquiring for Christopher Nkunku this week, but it might be over before it even starts this link. He needs to be sold though, and there is plenty of interest. You can read that in full here.
Chelsea got the deal agreed to sign Jorrel Hato earlier this week and it’s time to offer some big praise. Getting him done for £37m is very good, and we stayed tough in negotiations. I questioned whether it would work and it did. So I applaud it. But we might not always be able to work this way, and I explain why here. Also, go get Mike Maignan and make me praise you even more!!
Would you take Marc Guehi for £40m? That is the valuation they have set on his head this summer but of course, Chelsea would pay even less than that with the 20% sell-on clause. The Blues are still interested, and it’s time to make your opinion heard here.
Having a big squad full of quality and depth is wise. But it can also create issues. It’s a bit of a catch-22 situation but in reality, I think we need to be smart here. I explain all in my comment piece here.
That’s it for now. I’ll jump on the Substack App as always if I have any news from now until Sunday morning when I’m back on the site.
Have a great weekend all!
Peace, Si.
