EXCL: Chelsea tracking new defensive midfielder target

A NEW name never reported anywhere else joins the list

Chelsea are tracking a new defensive midfielder target as they weigh up options for the summer transfer window.

It is true that the new manager will get a real say in new targets and if they get the one they really want, Xabi Alonso, then he will be afforded much more control than recent managers.

So any new transfer targets we hear about will all be at preliminary and monitoring stages for now, and targets and plans could change depending on the manager and also the philosophy and tactical plans that they club are looking into.

However, this is a new name we are tracking ahead of a possible approach to sign this summer.
