A really good article thanks. Social media a lot of the time is a very worrying place. No balance just extremes. We are certainly doing better than I expected and we do have a good chance to finish in the top four as apart from Liverpool everyone is inconsistent. I don’t except tiredness as an excuse as we have a big squad and every team should be tired. The last two games have been particularly disappointing as we were outplayed by Fulham and you could see why and Ipswich had more desire and fight. If the same personnel, tactics and attitude is seen against Palace we will lose I’m sorry to say.

I agree that it’s stupid to turn on Maresca, Disasi on the other hand deserves the flack. He doesn’t deserve being sent death threats though. Anyone sending death threats is scum.

I think it’s worth noting that while it has been a reactionary turn, it’s not exactly after just a single game, it’s been a few that we’ve been poor now and the cracks that we papered over with subpar depth like KDH, Disasi, Badiashile, Nkunku etc are back on full display despite us calling for them to be fixed for a few windows now.

agree 1000% on this.. we need TIME that was the main message when EM came in.. 4 months is NOT enough time. Sometimes the overreactions, make me wonder. If you have ever played this game seriously you would know it takes time for Teams to gel.

Fully agree with the personal vendetta… but rationally looking, I see Enzo having improved Enzo, with Moi, Palmer and Jackson as natural progression, and Gusto plus PL Nkunku fallen off, so net 0 on player development. 3 less points first half of season than second half of last, would for now call it even with Poch, despite all the „tactical ideas and bomb squads“ in his philosophy

Jan whilst I agree Poche had a rough deal there are some things Maresca has done better like Fan interaction, press interaction & getting his messages across from early doors on how he wants to have the team play.

Of course he is building on an excellent 2nd half to last season which if i remember correctly if repeated for a whole season put us 4th. However you did say the team was 4pts better so id say thats an improvement although for various reasons id never compare 1st half of the season against the 2nd half of last season.

So we go again at the weekend and this time the team wont have the excuse of too much xmas pudding over xmas.

As for Vendetta's against players and manager that can never be good and anyone that oversteps the mark should be banned for life.

Happy New year and btw I enjoyed your post gave me food for thought!

Fair point! I do believe Maresca is more prescriptive than Poch‘s mayhem kind of tactics but many games have been similar this season as well (Spurs, Wolves, Brighton).

Yeah we are 10 points ahead of first half last season and 3 points behind second half of it. Let’s see where we end up if we manage to rebound in January, just a bit worried about Newcastle until Isaks next slump.

Happy New Year to you too!

Which post? This one?
