Cole Palmer: Some obvious flowers.......

Our player of the season and absolute star, what a signing and what a player

Good Evening Ladies and Gents,

Tonight I want to talk about Cole ‘Cold’ Palmer and one thing is for sure the cold man has been on absolute fire this season. I apologise for the awful Dad joke.

I remember the moment we found out that Chelsea were all guns blazing for Cole, Si and I were sat in Frankie’s Sports Bar at Stamford Bridge having a beer and a chat before our Carabao Cup round 2 fixture v AFC Wimbledon and Si’s phone went ping and that was it, I got my laptop out, updated the live blog and within 15 minutes Fabrizio Romano, David Ornstein etc. were dropping the bomb everywhere. As usual Si bought the exclusive…….

We looked at each other and said what a deal for 45m, even the most optimistic fans like Si and I were for this deal couldn’t have imagined how quickly he would settle and how quickly he would turn into our star player.

At that point in the summer window, with 2 days to go we were linked with everybody and their dog, everyone knew we wanted a versatile attacker and jeez did we get that and more!

The immediate thing you look at with Cole is his stats so far this season, 35 appearances, 14 goals, 12 assists which quite frankly is top class, averaging a G/A every 102 minutes across all competitions.

Aside from that its everything else he brings that has impressed me the most, he is incredibly tenacious, so hard working, ridiculously intelligent and so creative. The way he plays is a joy to watch.

He has now worked himself into the England reckoning and with the amount of attacking stars England have within their ranks it is a massive compliment to him and how he has improved so far at Chelsea.

Don’t get me wrong he learnt a lot of his trade at City and under Pep but there is no way he was this good there otherwise they don’t let him go, it is as black and white as that. He has got better and better as the season has moved on and the fact he is ONLY 21 is incredible, in 3/4 years time he is going to be incredible and that will STILL be before his peak!

He is without a doubt our player of the season, with shoutouts to Conor Gallagher and Malo Gusto. He is the jewel in our crown and will elevate this club back to where we belong over the next few years.
