@The Score I am travelling currently and I just started catching up on some articles from last week including your own. Most people know me as one of the more positive members of this group and I have to say, that’s like you, I have defended the ownership/SDs at time. However, being one of the more patient individuals and supporters, I like you have reached the end of my tether. Everything that you say is spot on and whilst people were critical of Todd at the outset, our downfall started when he got pushed to one side. Whilst not an expert he has much greater knowledge of the sporting environment and the model required. I don’t totally particularly blame the sporting directors as they are paid employees but they obviously have no balls and are not willing to stand up and tell Clearwater that they don’t know what they are talking about and if they want us to do the job, step aside and let us do it. I’m not saying they are good enough in terms of quality, but they need to show their ability to lead and do their job if they want to keep it.

Meant to say SHOULD be taken seriously

Excellent article the score and I think you speak for at least 90% of long term Chelsea fans. Also the concerns of people like Mike should not be taken seriously because it wasn't long ago a certain American, who i think was called Randy Lerner promised Aston Villa the world and instead got them relegated. Who could see Villa getting relegated these days they're near the Champions League places not the bottom of it but back under the American ownership they were that bad that relegation is exactly what they got

I wont dispute the airing of the same issue's and I've always liked the way the score makes points.

We've been here before and will be again.

That is all!

Bravo and well said. Sadly, under this dictatorship, it wouldn’t surprise me if, before we win our league and/or the UCL again, we will have paid a visit to the Championship first, based on the chaotic performances of the footballing impostors at the top of the club.

Sorry but in the 90s plenty of times that team folded under pressure - Sunderland away in the cup, Sheffield Weds in the league cup, abject home performances against dross. Don't let Rose tinted glasses diminish the first half of that decade, to coin a phrase we've never had it so good.

Making excuses always sounds like sour grapes so I won't make them. It's been a chastening week and frankly we're not used to it.

I can't be having anyone carting off a new manager dropped into a season. He might not be the future, and glances across the benches may make for wistful thinking, but this isn't on him

The players however young or old need to take their share of responsibility. Either you grow or you don't. They practice the high line, the press, finishing, not to mention they know the rules about discipline.

As for what a Man Utd fan thinks...leave them to their own

I’ve been going and watching since the late 1960’s and yes there have been very dark days but you understood the club was broke at certain times so couldn’t attract even mediocre players. The bottom line is they have spent and largely wasted a fortune. It just didn’t need to be this painful.

I couldn't say everything I wanted in one tweet on the Twit/X, but this is exactly how Clearlake operate in the PE world... their reputation is one of toxicity and arrogance. Do a quick Google search and you'll read all about how any person whose ideas contradict theirs gets belittled, bullied, and quieted. Truth be told, they have been coasting off their pre-COVID acquisitions as a company and a lot of their investments have stalled and lost money. They're actually a bit of a joke in the tech world.

We are in deep, deep trouble with this ownership and I still don't think enough people in the fanbase have opened their eyes to how bad it already is in addition to how bad it could become. Another year or two of operating in this manner and the damage will be laid bare for all to see, for at that point Chelsea will be a shell of it's former self. And that's just on the sporting side; if I went into all the issues on the financial side that would be an entire essay in and of itself!

The Score, you've been speaking my mind for nearly 2 years now. Progressingly going from worse to worse. Spot on.

I hate that they cant even be honest that its not a "project" but a completely ill-evidenced ideology that they are in thrall to (private equity allover ).

A project, as they are so want to call it, is a goal-oriented effort with defined resources, and a timebound deliverables (four transfer windows anyone?(

Where as an ideology is an enduring, abstract (unproven) system of beliefs, values, & worldviews that guide actions..hmmm that.sounds familiar to me.

Excellent read. Think it's 4 full time managers they have appointed.
