Whats up everyone! We are back with another live watch along for the Chelsea vs. Palace Match on Sunday. Use this link below to join in!
What to Watch For
Clean Passing in the Final Third
Chelsea thrived against Wolves last weekend by completing 86/113 (76%) of their passes in the final third. They were clinical in the box and those passing #’s were a big part of that.
Noni Madueke vs. Tyrick Mitchell
This will be a fantastic matchup on that right hand side. Madueke is coming into a good bit of form after his hat trick, but he has a formidable opponent in Mitchell who last season was very good at breaking up dribblers.
Passing of Centerbacks
Chelsea did a very good job against Wolves utilizing line breaking passes to find Jackson in hold-up play scenarios to allow the attacking 8’s to release and start the break. Levi Colwill was specifically good in that role completing 6/8 long passes which were crucial in the success of Chelsea’s build up.
Overall, I want to see more of the same progressions, consistent passing, and clinical finishing. Chelsea scored 6 goals off of 5 big chances, if you are in that same realm against Palace I would assume we would see another positive performance. Also, I would like to see Chelsea perform well at home, for the last couple of seasons we saw the fans get frustrated with Chelsea often so hopefully they start quick and finish some early chances to get the crowd on their side.
Hope to see you during the watch along!
