Chelsea Newsletter - Wednesday 27th October
Covering: Southampton review, Contract situations - where we're at, Pulisic injury update, Does Rudiger deserve £200k?, and our general news sweep...
Morning all,
Plenty to chat about this Wednesday morning as always, but even more so off the back of the Southampton game last night.
It took penalties for us to go through once again and I’ve managed to draw on some positives, but there were also some pretty big negatives too unfortunately..
I’ve got my initial thoughts on this game that I penned right after the full time whistle here.
But as well as the action on the pitch, all the talk and drama right now is surrounding the contract situations of pretty much our whole backline.
Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, and Thiago Silva have contracts ending at the end of this season, and Trevoh Chalobah has a contract ending next summer.
So there is A LOT to ponder, and A LOT for Chelsea to sort out. I’ve gone through each player individually here based on my own information (I actually wrote this one before The Athletic’s update yesterday, as you’ll see by the date and time on the piece).
Speaking of The Athletic, it is them who are claiming that Rudiger wants £200k-a-week new contract at Chelsea, and we are only offering him £140k-a-week. So I’ve crunched some numbers, did many comparisons, and taken a look at what the rest of our squad are on to see whether Rudiger asking for £200k-a-week wages is justified or not. You can peep that here.
I feel like there is always a Christian Pulisic injury update to be reported, but this one is actually quite positive, so you might want to check that out here.
And in between all of that, there was plenty of other news snippets going around related to Chelsea, you can check in on all of that here.
Alright guys, that’s me for now, check back tomorrow!
Si
