I am a bit puzzled. Remembering transfers are not just about the transfer fee but also the all-important wages, I have a question.
If we are prepared to pay £70-80 million of whatever it is plus what will be astronomical wages for de Jong, why can't we bid £100 million odd for Declan whose wages would not be as high? De Jong is a great player but Declan fulfils a greater need for the team.
Thanks mate. We are prepared to pay for Dec, but circumstances so far aren't allowing it - they want a fitting replacement in - Ward-Prowse was/is their priority.

Si - for the money Barca want for de Jong, surely that same amount would at least instigate talks with West Ham for Rice? Yes the deal will end up costing more than Fdj but surely the club recognise the necessity of Rice over Fdj? Rice is PL proven... Fdj lacks physicality and it could end up biting us. Would like to hear your thoughts

West Ham want/wanted a solid replacement for Rice, they haven't got it yet. Not ruling it out yet, but things have to align.
If only they had eyes on Ampadu...
Rice would join/wants to join, but he will always remain respectful to West Ham, so he would never force/push a move like Fofana is doing.
