Chelsea have a CB and goalkeeper problem but it's nothing new (recruitment mistakes STILL being made), Lincoln City are a welcome breath of fresh air to football, Mentalities questioned, Much more....
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 25th September 2025!
Morning all,
I hope you’re having a good week so far.
Chelsea are back in Premier League action this Saturday and we have a very tough game against Brighton to prepare for. I’m very glad that we didn’t need Reece James and Moises Caicedo to overcome Lincoln City on Tuesday night, because we will certainly need them this weekend.
Talking about the Lincoln game, and I had a number of subjects that I wanted to speak further on in the wake of that game.
It highlighted just how dire our goalkeeper and defensive situations are and how badly we have messed up there.
Filip Jorgensen for me is no more than Championship level. He was just awful against Lincoln, and here I am asking, who scouted and recruited him? Because what another terrible mistake that was.
The centre back situation isn’t a lot better either. I remember being slammed for saying Chelsea needed to sign a new centre back even BEFORE Levi Colwill got injured. Wonder what people who opposed that think now! Words on another big mistake our recruiters have made here.
Malo Gusto said after the Lincoln game that we did ‘quite well’ in it. No Malo, we did NOT. Once again, I see an odd mentality in this team sometimes and it doesn’t sit well with me. Words on that here.
And a final word on Lincoln City, who I was seriously impressed with. I love their manager too and I’ll be keeping a close eye on him. They are a breath of fresh air to football and I believe they are leading a cycle of change to the game, a refreshing change. They had everything about their play and were not reliant on one style. It so very almost paid off, too. Long read here.
As always, you can round up all your latest Chelsea news from the last 24 hours in the same place here. This covers all you need to know.
Peace, Si.
