Chelsea 2 Arsenal 3, Sources: Maresca went back on medical team agreement, Sources: Fringe players encouraged by Rosenior conversations, Jody Morris: Not much difference in Maresca and Rosenior, More!
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 15th January 2026!
Morning all,
The long old slog through January continues!
Chelsea were in League Cup action last night, facing Arsenal in the first leg of the semi finals at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea did well to keep themselves in the tie overall, especially with a heavily depleted squad. But there are many question marks mainly over tactics and personnel once again.
You can grab my full reactions, ratings, and conclusion here.
I rounded up all your latest general Chelsea news in the same place from across the last 24 hours here.
Jody Morris believes that Enzo Maresca’s style of play is not much different to Liam Rosenior. The base of that is true of course, because it’s what the club wants. But there can be variations of such a style, and Rosenior does have some key differences I believe. Words here.
A couple of sourced articles now to see us through.
The fringe players have been told that they are all trusted by Rosenior, and as a result of this, many of them are feeling they have genuine chances to break into the team again. But what about Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling? Full report here.
There was a story out this week regarding Chelsea putting medical staff on the bench with Enzo Maresca to ensure he followed the rules around returning injured players. Now, we had some extra info to put to this which we have covered in full here. But basically, Maresca had agreed to all of this but changed his stance on it, and that caused some big problems.
See you all on the next live blog around 8.45am today.
Peace, Si.
