The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Monday 17th February 2025!
Morning all,
I’ve not really been invested in Chelsea this weekend I can’t lie. Our boy Solly has not only had the flu and an eye infection, but also got a lot worse with his cough over the weekend. It’s been an absolute nightmare and he’s really been suffering bless him. So we are running on empty and hardly any sleep - I think I had a full two hours on and off last night. Damn….
The only positive from that is I haven’t had to let Chelsea get into my head because some things are much more important and honestly, it doesn’t take much for me to become disinterested in Chelsea these days anyway.
Of course I’ve kept an eye on things and I watched the Brighton game back. I’ve not done any huge analysis because let’s be honest, it didn’t need it. We were just absolutely awful, crap; the worse game we have played all season. I think we can all see that with our own eyes. I’ve got some words on the game though, and it’s really very damning and sobering in here.
I have looked a bit deeper into styles of play though after this game. I find it very interesting how Chelsea are playing worse the more ‘Maresca-ball’ comes in to play. At the start of the season I think we were seeing the rollover of ‘Poch-ball’ more than anything else, and that coincided with some very good form. No, I am absolutely NOT calling for Poch back or for Maresca to be sacked, so please do read every word in here to see what I am saying with all of this. It’s really quite eye opening. Some stats in this to back it up too.
Reactions on socials this weekend have obviously been angry, upset, frustrated, and everything else in between. But there was one post that stood out to me and is focusing on the deeper issues at this club under Clearlake. It’s a message to Todd Boehly, and every word in this here is perfect.
The Score popped up with his latest article too, written before the Brighton defeat actually. But he looks at Clearlake’s operations and why they want/need to win. An interesting one here.
And of course, I rounded up all the latest Chelsea news from yesterday in the same place here for your convenience. News of a Chelsea fan protest in this too!
Join me on the next live blog from around 8.30am today! I will have to see what today brings with Solly, but I’ll update as much as I can, although in between helping with Solly I’ll also need to catch up on some sleep. So bare with!
Peace, Si.

If your sleep deprivation carries on, I see we're playing Villa on Saturday evening. That should give you at least another two hours....
So sorry to hear Solly is unwell Si, bless him its so hard when they are so little and really poorly hope he gets better soon sleep deprivation not good either at least it keeps your mind off the club at the moment . I loved Joe Coles comments spot on 💙
