Bayern 3 Chelsea 1, Sources: Plans for Emegha and Satpaev, How fragile is Chelsea's squad and how risky was the summer? Vincent Kompany was full of Chelsea praise pre-match, Full news roundups, More..
The Chelsea FC Newsletter: Thursday 18th September 2025!
Morning all,
Chelsea were finally back in Champions League action last night and although they certainly showed they were there to compete, it was a night of mixed feelings and self-inflicted Chelsea wounds. It could have and maybe should have been a different story, but Bayern just had too much experience for Chelsea’s young guns on the night and put in a professional performance to get the job done.
You can grab my full reactions, thoughts, player ratings, and much more from the game here.
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany was full of praise for Chelsea and for Enzo Maresca ahead of the game yesterday. Some might say it was mind games, but I actually think he was being fully sincere with his comments here.
I also honed in on an article I found that was basically questioning Chelsea’s recruitment over the summer and suggesting that it has left them short in some areas. Was it a massive risk? Are Chelsea now left very fragile? You can read the quotes and give your opinion on that here.
I also had a sourced article out yesterday as well, my second one this week. It’s on pending new strikers Emmanuel Emegha and Dastan Satpaev. What are the plans for both of them? Will any of them go out on loan, or even be sold? Which one will come into the first team squad if any? I’ve got all the inside info on that here.
And of course, I had the live blog running before the game last night, and that will cover all your general Chelsea news that you need to know from the last 24 hours in the same place for your convenience here.
See you all on the next live blog from around 8.45am today on the home page where you can give us your thoughts on the Bayern game!
Peace, Si.

I think we will do well to finish in automatic qualifying places as you could see the lack of experience last night.
