Last week I reported some relatively positive news on Morgan Rogers to Chelsea. Well, positive if you are someone who wants Chelsea to sign him anyway.

The club have seen Rogers as a priority transfer target pretty much all last season and have been working on trying to sign him for some time.

Well, this week has at least been busier than last week so far, even if nothing definitive is happening yet. We’ve seen plenty of Chelsea briefings out, and some links to new players. So no tumbleweed yet this week.

I had a sourced article out yesterday on Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix. Our interest in him was reiterated to me by sources earlier this week, so just some fresh words and report on that here.

Chelsea have actually had an interest in Crystal Palace centre back Maxence Lacroix for some time now.

As others out there confirm the interest in the defender, such as Bobby Vincent of Football London, and Simon Jones of The Daily Mail, our sources have also been in touch to remind us that Lacroix is most certainly on Chelsea’s shortlist of centre backs they are looking into this summer, and there is definite interest from The Blues.

Hope you’ve had a top start to your week.

The transfer window is now officially open! So we can now begin weeks of mixed emotions and frustrations, no doubt! But as much as you might think you hate the transfer window, I know you all secretly LOVE it!! Here is what we MUST do this window. Do I have any faith we will do it? Nope, but I live in hope.

Marc Cucurella is off to Real Madrid, so I have written some words here on how I think his Chelsea career has gone. It’s been a mixed bag but overall, Cururella has been a decent signing for us.

And we also need to speak about replacements for Cucurella, as it could be some tough boots to fill. I have some exclusive names in here, with one name who has not been reported before (I don’t think so anyway). Check out the latest sourced transfer info in this.

With Marc Cucurella reportedly expected to be confirmed as a new Real Madrid player on Monday, news of replacements will start coming out.

As reported for weeks, Chelsea have always expected to sell Cucurella this summer because he has been actively pushing to go after making the decision to leave Chelsea back in January. He’s always been going this window.

Morning all,

I hope you had a good weekend and for those able to watch the World Cup, I hope you’ve been enjoying that so far.

I’ve written my initial takeaways from the World Cup so far here and noted the team that has impressed me the most so far. It’s a shame I can’t watch much of it live, but I’m trying to watch many games back.

Back to the Chelsea stuff now, and it’s stayed very quiet as expected whilst the World Cup is on and Chelsea operate in the background (hopefully). But there is the usual noise around both Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella.

I’ve got the latest on Fernandez’ future here. I still think he goes this summer, but it’s turned into a saga. Sigh…

Cucurella’s situation moved very fast after I wrote my latest on him yesterday morning. Real Madrid agreement came out of nowhere as this was another situation that I expected to go quiet until after the World Cup. But such is football business, this one could not wait apparently. As reported yesterday morning, Cucurella and Fernandez want to go to the same new club, is that about to be Real Madrid!? I also said yesterday that Cucurella still wants out despite his public comments. I wrote this here yesterday morning, but see Blues News Report for how things developed since then!

There was also a wild story about Jamie Gittens and how his former manager at Dortmund told Bayern Munich NOT to sign the winger!? Madness. I’ve got that story and also my opinion on Gittens in general, in here.

Anyone hoping for a quick conclusion to avoid any drawn out transfer sagas for the likes of Enzo Fernandez and others this summer are going to be left disappointed.

The transfer market is wild this summer already with mad inflated fees, especially in the Premier League. This cannot be seen as an excuse, but it is certainly a factor.

Couple that with it being a World Cup summer and with many players wanting to focus on that right now and sort their futures out when it’s over, as well as the fact Chelsea operate with a strict wage structure that is unattractive compared to what many other clubs are offering and the fact they have no European football to offer, is going to make it tough for Chelsea this window.
